Tomorrow, July 28th, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is open to EVERYone. As always, you can save a lot of money each year by shopping for high-quality fashion brands for less during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
This year is no different; with Fall around the corner, now is a great time to buy fun pieces to layer up or style once the temps cool down a little bit.
I have always share looks that I shop and wear year over year. From my favorite cutouts to date night dresses, this year, the sales look great! As always, scoop these pieces up quickly as they tend to sell out quickly!
Here are some affordable pieces that you will be glad you shopped for less, trust me!
The days of brick and mortar shopping are a thing of the past. As Amazon has personally taken over my shopping habits, I’ve found Trunk Club for Women to be my next favorite way to shop. I’ve always loved to play dress up, but never enjoyed the process of digging through racks to find what I want.
How it works:
You visit Trunk Club’s website and fill out a profile. Once completed, the website will match you with a stylist who will select curated items from @Nordstrom that fit your needs.
I’ve been using my personal stylist @laurenhookham for a few years now and she hits the nail on the head every time! You can bypass working with someone who hasn’t been vetted and reach her directly by clicking on this link: www.trunkclub.com/mystylist/lhookham
I met Lauren after filling out my profile in their beautiful downtown location. @Trunkclubwomen has multiple locations throughout the Chicago area that make for a perfect setting to find the perfect outfit (I’ve even taken girlfriends there over some champagne for shopping parties)!
In our first meeting she came prepared with a few selected outfits she thought matched my initial profile. To be honest, I didn’t love all of her selections the first time around. Just like anything else, it takes time to develop a relationship and understanding about what the other person is looking for.
Over time, we have developed an understanding of what my style, size and needs are! Now when she sends a Trunk, I like majority of the selections she’s made. Since @TrunkClubwomen is in partnership with Nordstrom, you know what you’re getting is going to be good quality. I can’t always say for my Amazon purchases. What I love most about it is once you find someone who gets you, you can get trunks seasonally to keep you stylish without any of the effort of following trends and digging through racks of clothing.
If you are a Nordstrom card holder the $25 styling fee gets waived AND you get points for your purchases…what’s best is it shows up at your front door so need need to put in any extra effort! Could this seriously get any better?! Click here to join now: http://www.trunkclub.com/invite/293MAC
There are some annual trends that are so consistent that I don’t have to let go of those pieces from year to year. Once the weather turns and the colors (for me, mainly black) turn to orange, rust, brown, and yellow, we turn to plaid to help ring in the new season.
Well, kind of.
I love black – so when I found this black and white plaid blazer I knew I had to have it. It’s the perfect compromise for someone like me not totally ready to commit to the fall palette but ready to layer up! This blazer from TopShop is different though – it is jersey knit and double breasted which means it is super soft to the touch, has a little bit of give to it, and looks as amazing as it feels. Jersey knits are a staple in my wardrobe all year round — special shout-out to my jersey maxi dresses that keep me going through the summers.

I take inspiration from many fashion bloggers (Sarah from House of Sequin is a favorite lately!) when I put together an outfit and this look is no different. Mixing and matching vibes by pairing my rocker tee and blazer is just one inspired look that I have tried. Anyone can recreate this with what they already have in their closet — its a good excuse to pull out that comfy tee.
As always, thank you for checking out this post. If you have not already, consider subscribing to our channel on YouTube for a closer look at who the chicks are.
Attention ladies of all ages, sizes, and styles. AKIRA, a Chicago based boutique that the chicks have been loyal to for over 20 years (one day I will have to dig out some of our old photos and share them) is having a site wide sale that you cannot miss!
TODAY they are having a 20% off site wide sale and with AKIRA all over our feed, we wanted to share some of our stuff with you and also some items that are on our wish list.
