Becoming a #RevolveAmbassador

For the past five years, I have applied EVERY SINGLE YEAR to be a Revolve Ambassador, and for five years, I have been rejected. Finally, this year I was invited to join this elite group of influencers, and I was so ecstatic!  Simply getting to this point was a full-on test of patience and persistence in and of itself. I have shopped and shared Revolve for many years as part of my quality-over-quantity fashion ambitions.  Everything I have ever bought from Revolve has been on trend and top quality – even if it means it costs a little bit more.

As Fall is one of my favorite fashion seasons, I am thrilled to share my latest Revolve splurges.  You can also keep up with my favorites here.

As always, thanks for stopping by Chicks and Salsa!

It’s my 6-year Blogversary!

Chicks and Salsa may be the longest ‘job’ I have held. 296 blog posts and 1240 Instagram posts later, here we are! Starting my own small business in 2016 has led to many meaningful opportunities. I have fostered relationships crafted 100% by hard work, consistency, and you all – my readers, followers, friends, and family. Thank you to many of you who were there when I started and are still here.  I see you, and I appreciate you.

I have written about why I started and shared some of my early partnerships in previous posts.  Today I wanted to share why all the hard work was worth it.  There are big partnerships I have been lusting after that have (finally!) recently come to fruition, but the WHY I am still doing it is not about partnerships.

Starting Chicks and Salsa was always about learning.  Learning to write, learning to network, learning to create, learning to be vulnerable, and learning to commit.  It was about so much more than the clothes, the makeup, and the events.  It was about finding my tribe in person and online; it was about learning by DOING.

I made my first website, created my first LLC, learned photography essentials, and took numerous courses online to learn the in’s and out’s of ‘having a blog.’ Since starting, things have changed, and Instagram‘s influence on our e-commerce culture has skyrocketed. We also have TikTok as a new place to learn new things and find inspiration.  Every few months, there are new things to keep up with and learn.  I love the variety that creating Chicks and Salsa offers; it is flexible and ever-evolving.

In 2018, I launched MVP Media, a social media management company that has allowed me to convert what I do for Chicks and Salsa for small brands and businesses.  To date, I have worked for dozens of companies to help elevate their social media presence.

Learn more about MVP Media here.

With no end in sight, I plan to keep creating fun, entertaining, inspirational, or educational content.

This post is about gratitude.  I am genuinely grateful to have found a small corner of the internet to call my own, thanks to you.  As always, thanks for your time and your love.

Stay tuned; there is more to come!
Your Chick,
Rina

RESTOCK ALERT: Asymmetrical Sweaters, Cutouts, and more!

When I saw this sweater on Nordstrom last week I knew I had to have it.  It sold out quickly but is restocked now on Nordstrom.

The perfect pairing is with some stilettos and leggings, but I have also seen some great casual-chic looks with sneakers and jeans as well.  This sweater comes in three colors and is super flattering on every figure.

CHICK PICKS:

The Juggle is Real

We have all heard about work-life balance, particularly now, but what can you do when work and home are happening all under the same roof!?!

As a work-from-home mom with a full-time career in digital marketing and two kids who have been virtually learning since March 2019, I have definitely had to learn a few tough lessons.  Thankfully, these have taught me to work smarter, not necessarily harder.  Read on to see how I am doing my best to pull it all off.

Cut Yourself Some Slack

I pride myself on productivity.  During the pandemic, my sense of accomplishment took a hit, and now, I am ok with doing just enough.  That means letting the laundry sit an extra day (or two), taking some shortcuts in the kitchen, and generally just chilling out.

Harness the Power of Technology

I have been fighting the need to do this for years, but THIS YEAR, I have finally integrated all of my work and family calendars on Google and also picked up a few tricks to help with the clutter on my desk.  I recently purchased one of these cases for my iPad which has made doing work on the go much easier.  I also purchased an Apple Pencil to eliminate all the notebooks, notepads, sticky notes that clutter my desk.  Pro Tip: Good Notes is an app that has helped me clear my desk by allowing me to write and store them digitally.

When my personal space is a mess, my mind is a mess.  So I have been doing little things to keep your physical and mental space tidy.

The WEE Hours

For the last few months when I wake up before everyone else, I make a cup of coffee and enjoy the peace and quiet.  The 30-40 minutes I have with my thoughts in the morning really set the tone for the rest of my day.  I use this time to JUST SIT, I look outside, check the news, maybe social media and within 30 minutes I already feel caught up and ready for whatever is in store for the day ahead.

Chick Picks:

I am sure all of this seems easier said than done, but after doing these things for several months, they have become a habit.  A habit, I intend to keep long after things get back to normal.

Your Chick,

Rina
