Between my new “Jewels of the Week” series on Instagram and launching my Stella and Dot boutique, it has been all about the bling with me. I love basics like a white or black shirt with jeans (or something fun like leather pants). But a statement earring or necklace can really take any outfit up a level for any occasion.
Most people who know me are not surprised by my affinity for jewelry, especially since my Mom is a jeweler (the apple does not fall far from the tree)! Since becoming a brand ambassador for Stella and Dot, not only have I made money and scooped up many of the latest styles for less, but I have also become part of a community of women that are like-minded. We prefer quality over quantity and love supporting other women. If you want to learn about becoming an ambassador, click here.
With the holidays around the corner, jewelry is a MUST own and also they make for great gifts. Please check out my Stella&Dot store, I donate most of my commissions to a local nutrition program that is feeding kids every day who are learning from home (nearly 1600 students).
As always, thanks for stopping by Chicks And Salsa!
I love gift-giving. You read that right, I am one of those people who likes to find the perfect gift for someone and often sends a gift just because. We have all been in a situation where we needed a gift that would be nice, thoughtful, and affordable?
When I discovered Masala My Life, my heart smiled. It’s the perfect gift box for a hostess, get well soon or those fun women in your life. There are so many ways to share the magic that comes in these boxes that they truly are the perfect gift.
To me, the perfect gift is around $40-$50. These gift boxes are not imposing on someone’s style or aesthetic and are thoughtful and fun. For example, I can see myself gifting the LUXE Mango Gift Set to my Mother in Law or an Aunt. I could also share it with someone whose house I may be going to for the first time. It has a cute kitchen towel, candle, a bar of soap, and a cute pair of earrings. It just feels unique and thoughtful and that is what I love about it.
Founder Anu Mannar didn’t stop at putting together cute boxes, she thoughtfully put together each piece of these curated boxes that make you feel good about the purchase. She uses recycled saris in her jewelry, creates everything in the USA, has environmentally friendly packaging, works with local artisans to create unique pieces, AND donates a portion of her proceeds to the South Asian American Digital Archive. It is the whole concept of things coming together to help the community at large which makes is box truly special.
As a South Asian female entrepreneur, I commend Masala My Life for representing the best of our community.
Next time you need a thoughtful gift that will make someone feel great while supporting local artisans, and giving back to the community, consider shopping from Masala My Life!
Your Chick,
Rina

There is not a day that goes by without the thought that everything I do and feel for my children, my Mom most likely felt for me at some point. It is such an overwhelming realization when you squeeze your child and smother them with kisses to know that the intensity of that moment was once felt towards me by my own mother.

Small Gestures and The Circle of Life
As I look back, and appreciate, all the “little things“ my mom did for my siblings and I, the one “thing” that stands out was when she would reach back and grab my hand while driving. It was the smallest gesture that literally meant the world to me! I am tearing up as I am writing this because I’ve carried this tradition on with my own children. It wasn’t always fun and games with my Mom. Just like most mothers, there were good days and there were bad bad days, but every time my mom would reach back for my hand, it was our reminder that she, and I, were going to be okay. I can feel that same energy when I reach back for my own children’s hands.

Holding Hands With My Mini In The Car
Let’s be honest chicks, the reality is that one day our kids will grow up, go to school, get married and then settle into lives of their own. With each stepping stone in life, a Mom begins to miss their child a just little more. I recall how hard the first day of school was for me, I can only imagine what an emotional mess I will be when they move out.
Keep The Kids Close To Your Heart
For Mother’s Day I wanted to find a way to be with my kids all the time and I came across a personalized collection by Landon Lacey jewelry. I love the idea of keeping my kids close to my heart when they are away at school by wearing this adorable necklace. The necklaces from Landon Lacey look good when layered or make a statement all by themselves.
To all the Mothers out there – you are amazing, you can do anything, and you will find a way to do it right. Don’t second guess yourself, trust your instincts, and always believe that the glass is half full. I’m hopeful that the little “things” that I have carried on from my Mom will be just as meaningful to my kids.
Happy Mother’s Day to you all! Keep your kids close to your heart this Mother’s Day with these adorable personalized pieces!
Your chick,
Sonia
